What is the AnatomyArchive?

The Vision

I wanted to create a learning website for artists that is free of ads and even more importantly free of paywalls.
Many times I found a cool website with useful information, only for it to be locked behind a subscription or similar. I think that's the trend right now and it's annoying. Ads would have been more user friendly, but they are also annoying and working on something for the passion alone has its own charm.

As a result this website is a non profit project, because no ads and no subscriptions equals no money. Supporting individual artists if you like what they do is of course appreciated, but the overall theme of this website is freedom.

Free to use

I saw a few of my professors at university cite Wikipedia in their presentations and I thought it would be cool if there would be a library for art teachers. I liked the idea of learning with the AnatomyArchive for yourself but also helping others improve. That's on of the reasons why all pages of the AnatomyArchive are free to use - non commercially and commercially.

The exceptions are:

  • You are not allowed to use any piece of this website for machine learning purposes, AI model training and similar.
  • You are not allowed to sell pages or parts of them. The pages are free to use commercially, so that a teacher who is getting paid can still include an AnatomyArchive page in his lesson.

Providing credit is of course really good, but not necessary. Sometimes too much citing can make a task unnecessarily difficult - I want to keep it as simple as possible.
